Perched on a steep hillside in Sydney’s south, with uninterrupted views across the Royal National Park, The Treehouse is a renovation rooted in family, memory, and environment. Designed by McRae + Lynch Designs in collaboration with Building Designer Corben Membrey, the vision centred on connection to place, to light, and to daily living.
The new open-plan zone is anchored by sweeping treetop views, and double-glazed sliding doors open completely to dissolve the boundary between indoors and out. It’s a space that allows nature to move through it: wind rustles the leaves, birdsong filters in, and the home breathes with its environment.

The material palette plays a key role in creating warmth and depth. Rich walnut joinery, sintered stone benchtops, handmade tiles, and brushed bronze fixtures add tactility and calm.

Working closely with Karyn McRae, our styling ensured the furniture and homewares provided the necessary sculptural forms and organic textures to harmonise with the fixed palette of walnut and stone. This alignment allowed the interiors to perfectly reflect the architectural goal: balancing openness with intimacy.
As Karyn shared, the home needed to feel both elevated and inviting. Our pieces ensure that every detail, down to the smallest element, adds warmth and a sense of quiet strength to the design narrative.

By meticulously planning every detail—from the core architecture to the final Indigo Love accessories—McRae + Lynch achieved a space that is not only beautiful but deeply functional and rooted in personal history.
