Traditional Northern Indian chakki grinder tables are treasures to which we return season after season. They were used in Indian havelis to grind grain into chakki atta flour to make chipati or roti bread. Each table is over 80 years old and has been crafted from solid teak that has been intricately hand carved. Sometimes, these tables still have original iron hardware and strapwork intact. The beautiful carvings will differ from one chakki grinder to the next as these items were unique to each household and family.
