Whether storing salt and grain in the kitchen, or saris and textiles in the bedroom, almirahs were a staple in any Indian household. Uncovered in Rajasthan, this petite 60-year-old almirah was from a rural haveli of the region and may have been used to house fresh produce and seasonal grain before it was fitted with delicate glass panels. It was handcrafted and carved from solid teak and has been sealed in a natural wax.
