Almirahs, both big and small, were fundamental to most Indian households and each was as unique as the home of which they were a part. They were used to store salt and grain in the kitchen, or saris, kantha quilts and other textiles in living spaces and bedrooms. Found in Rajasthan, this particular piece is over 80 years old and was once used to store seasonal grain and a collection of fragrant spices. It has been handcrafted from solid teak and has been fitted with delicate glass panels to protect whatever you wish to display on its shelves. We think it would make a beautiful bedside table with enough room for dog-eared novels, essential oils and even folded pillow cases.
